I was SO PUMPED to give my taste buds a break from local Balinese warung food and switch it up with some Koh Tao food like Thai curries and mango sticky rice! Thai cuisine is my absolute favorite and I can safely say that I had all the red curry, green curry, and massaman curry I could eat!
Below I’ve listed my 9 favorite spots to grab a bite in Koh Tao in no particular order along with my favorite dishes!

Ko Tao, Ko Pha-ngan District, Surat Thani 84280
Open until 5 PM
This cafe located in Mae Haad seemed to be the spot for digital nomads! Every day I came there were laptops propped open from every table and I could feel the creative energy, something I was a little worried I wouldn’t find in Koh Tao.
- Carrot Cake Balls
- Pesto Spaghetti
Sairee Beach Ban Ko Tao, Chumphon, Thailand 84360
Closes at 12 AM
If you’re looking for delicious seafood in a romantic setting, this is your spot! There are tables set right on the ocean and lit with candles. The wifi here is also the best wifi I’ve seen during any of my travels – I’ve attached a photo from Speedtest to prove it to ya!
- Thai spicy seafood pasta
- Fried whole snapper with green mango salad
- Massaman curry – DELISH!
Located on main road of Sairee
Hours: everyday 10am – 10pm
This plant based kitchen is meat free, dairy free, and egg free! Their most popular dish is the charcoal rainbow rolls! I had a mango kombucha and shitake banh mi with mango (I was really craving it that night!) and it was one of the best salads I’ve ever had! For dessert I tried 4 mini doughnuts (2 maple and coconut bacon and 2 double chocolate). I was also told that the vegan chocolate cheesecake is to die for!
They also have brunch from 10AM-4PM! I attached the brunch menu but I never tried it.
TukTa – where the locals go!
Open until 10PM
This is the oldest Thai restaurant in Koh Tao where the locals go! I never went here, but I heard that the portions are HUGE! If you’re into local cuisine and want to get away from the crowd, this is your spot!
This place was super stylish and has the best seafood! On Sundays they have a super amazing roast if you are a meat lover for 500 Baht that includes dessert! I had the chargrilled tandoori barracuda fillet served in masala sauce. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting but still delicious. The guys all loved their roast!
They also have a barracuda “all in” seafood platter for 495 baht per person that includes steamed whole snapper, fresh barracuda fillet, garlic pan fried prawns, baked green lip mussles, barracuda cakes, steamed calamari and prawns, served with garlic roast potatoes, mixed salad and dips. Is your mouth watering yet?!
Open until 11 PM
If you love Indian food, Shalimar is going to be your jam! There are many vegetarian and vegan options, (all very inexpensive) and the menu is super extensive. If you are looking for take out, I am told they are very fast. The staff was also super nice and boxed up my food for me because I can never finish my meals!
- Lamb samosas
- Chicken tikka wrap – ask for extra sauce
- Chicken tikka masala with garlic naan
10 moo1, sairee beach, Ban Ko Tao, Chumphon, Thailand 84360
A bit pricey for breaky, this cafe was worth it for the view and vibes! Located in the middle of Sairee right next to the beach, you could feel the ocean breeze as you worked from your laptop! The food honestly wasn’t that impressive, I had the eggs benedict but they were out of muffins both times I went. I just went for the views 🙂
Sairee – Nay Pon Road – Walking Street Ban Ko Tao, Chumphon, Thailand 84360
Hours: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
I ate here on my last night in Koh Tao and was pleasantly surprised!! They have this spicy olive oil that was TO DIE for, and if you are vegan – they have this amazing vegan cheese made by a french women who provides it to the whole island.
The owners are Italian and it was very apparent because the pizza was AMAZING! I am a veg head so I got the vegetarian special and ate the entire pie.
9/284 Sairee Beach, Ko Tao, Ko Pha-ngan District, Surat Thani 84360
Closes 9 PM
The Factory Cafe is a new organic vegan cafe that reminded me a bit of the food and vibes in Canggu! The furniture and decor is super boho with lots of greenery and succulents (my fave!) I was missing smoothie bowls and organic chia parfaits, so this place really hit the spot! Their cold brew coffee is also hand brewed for 24 hours and they have COCONUT milk and organic coconut sugar (YAY!)
- Need a chocolate fix? Then the chocolate peanut butter smoothie bowl is your jam
- Berries pancakes
- Pesto eggs
